Another month of concerts at Sok Hop is over and done, and it was one for the books. We saw some innovative newcomers as well as some fan-favorites.
Read on for the Recap -->

Zachary the Human
At our first ever "Sok Hop: Open Jam Nite" earlier this month, we saw a bunch of new talent from our very own Cedar City. The whole night was one great act after another but there was one performer that really stood out.
Zachary the Human walked out on to the stage with a full size guitar case, out of which he pulled a ukulele. Keeping the audience guessing from the get-go.
First, the crowd was treated to a mesmerizing original about a journey through the desert that lulled from quiet whispers to its manic choruses. Then they began to compose a song out of thin air, and allowed the onlookers to join in the creation process.
The energy that Zachary the Human brought to the stage was irresistibly different. Keep your eyes out for him.

Part II & The Electric Boogaloos
This band came to prove that punk rock never really goes out of style. Hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, Part II & The Electric Boogaloos were loud, proud, and full of old fashioned punk flair.
The three piece played a bombastic set of their own original music, accented with a few classic cover songs from bands like Operation Ivy.
Between jumping off of amps and screaming their hearts out, the energy Part II blasted out was received by the audience with fervor. The floor was filled with moshing and head-banging, one lucky audience member even got to join the band on stage.

Seizer
Seizer never fails to amaze us. This local favorite continues to blow us away show after show.
There's a reason that Seizer is a fan favorite here in Cedar. Their charisma on stage is unmatched and adds a sort of shine to their otherwise warm, yet dark hard rock sound. Their music mixes hard rock tones and attitudes with some shoegaze sensibilities.
The band treated us to new, unreleased originals as well as more familiar ones, and announced that they've been working on an album, to the delight of their crowd of fans. We can't wait to hear what's coming next from them.

Flower House
Flower House? More like power house!
With 6 members, we think that they might just be the biggest group we've fit onto the indoor stage here at the Johnson Center, but every member brought their A-game. Mixing indie guitars, vocals, and drums with funk inspired, keys, bass, and saxophone, Flower House has a very unique niche in Utah's Indie rock scene.
Based in St. George, Flower House is a band that you'll probably being seeing more of in the future. Luckily for us, they've got a sizable catalog of music for us to peruse until we see them again.

Door City
Door City is quickly becoming a dream destination for us here at Sok Hop. If that's where they got their lively indie sound, sign us up!
All jokes aside, these friends from Northern Utah threw down for our last show before spring break. Bringing us a fill of classic Utah Indie Rock, Door City had the crowd jumping to their effervescent take on the genre. It's hard to believe that this was one of their first shows together as a band!
Make sure to keep an eye out for these boys if you're ever up North, they put on a killer show.

We're looking forward to some more killer bands in March so make sure to stay tuned. You can check out the schedule here.
Remember that there's no Sok Hop this Tuesday because of Southern Utah University's spring break! If you're an SUU student, have a great break. We'll see you all at our next concert on March 5th with Cedar Sh*tty and Mopsy.
Keep Jamming!
