January kicked off 2024 at Sok Hop with a bang, bringing artists from Salt Lake, Nevada, and of course, our favorites from right here in Cedar City.
Black Cat Parade

Black Cat Parade is one of Cedar City's heavy hitters. They've been a band for a little over a year, but they've already amassed a fervent following within the community.
Heavily influenced by the Utah Indie-Rock scene and bands like The Backseat Lovers, Black Cat Parade has a sound that is both tender and gritty. Their lyrics encompass a relatable vulnerability that makes their songs feel honest and candid.
BCP treated the audience to a mix of familiar originals, covers like "Elephant" by Tame Impala, and even debuted an unreleased song of theirs at their show. They've released one single entitled "Scared of You," and have hinted that more music is soon to follow.
Juniper Honey

Hailing from Southern California, Juniper Honey brought the heat. The band brought a confident, laid-back demeanor to their upbeat indie-rock set, getting the crowd up and pumping with ease.
Juniper Honey's music is exciting and energetic; it integrates classic indie-rock sounds and techniques into their charismatic songwriting.
They've released 2 EP's and are currently on tour through the Western US. They've already hit Utah and Idaho, but if you're in California, Arizona, or the Pacific NorthWest, you've still got a chance to check them out on this run.
Reel Boy

2 fellow Plaid Skeleton Studios production engineers from St. George played back up for Jayson Haslam Brock's project: Reel Boy. The trio brought up some easygoing vibes and familiar tunes, like "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure.
Playing a mix of originals and a cover or two, the band treated the audience to a ruminative set filled with lyrics from the heart. Stringing together these heartfelt lyrics with strong guitar riffs create Reel Boy's signature sound.
Reel Boy has released an album called Love Songs, featuring fan favorite song from the set "Julissa," as well as a couple of singles that you can check out.
Branson Anderson

Branson Anderson had the audience in the palm of his hand with his swoon-worthy voice. Between his lilting vocals, bluesy style, and country sensibilities he grasped the attention from the room and kept it until the end. The show was filled with line dancing and yee-hawing, all for the finger-picking, Nevada based singer-songwriter.
Branson has a new single called "Colarado" coming out on March 8th (you can presave it here!) as well as a plethora of other songs for your streaming pleasure.
Chase Ford

If there's one thing Chase Ford does well, it's engaging with the audience. His natural banter and inclination to involve the audience demanded attention in an endearing way, bringing attention to his stripped down set.
It may have just been a guy and guitar, but the stage didn't feel empty. Chase's music was bright, interactive, and full of feeling.
Chase Ford usually performs with his band, the Gummy Boys. They've got a few songs released and play frequent shows in Northern Utah, so you can go check them out. ;)
Corbino

Corbino is another Cedar City local fav. He played his first ever live show at Sok Hop, right as we were just starting out!
Corbino's music has quite the range. From soft-spoken ballads to screaming folk anthems, Corbin's smooth vocals and signature foot drum entrance the audience. No matter what he's playing, he always manages to infuse it with his unique wit, making every show into a sincere look into his soul.
This is a musician that puts the "art" into "artist. If that strikes your fancy, then lucky you! There's a little heap of Corbino songs released for your listening pleasure.

That's a wrap for January!
But we've got a lot coming your way for February, starting out with our first ever Open Jam Night on Tuesday the 6th! Make sure to stay tuned so you can come jam with us soon. :)
